Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency has become a big thing in the last 10 years, not only to save you money on the energy bills, but also to create less electricity demand. Having lights on only when required is cleaner on the environment. Though there is a large upfront cost for installing lighting control systems, it is well known that they pay for themselves over a 5 – 7 year period in commercial buildings. Running lights at 95% gives you a 10% energy saving and you can have sensors controlling common walkway areas and turn the lighting onto 50% rather than full.
Heating can also be controlled by the lighting control system. You can have heating on only in the areas commonly occupied but then turn on as necessary in other areas.
Lighting control and automation systems can do all this and much more. Not only are these systems about energy efficiency and reducing energy wastage, they are about simplicity and making things easier to operate.
